Husband has a defibrulator and siatica. Can he still have acupuncture?

My husband had heart by-p surgery and while docs were putting in a femoral pump to help his heart they clipped a nerve and now he has extreme sciatic pain. (along with compressed discs unociated with the heart). He had been going to a chiropractor and having the "tens" (sp) unit along with manipulations. It worked wonderfully. Now He has a defibrillator for the heart and HE WON"T go back because he's stubborn and afraid he can't have it done because of the de fib. I go to an acupuncturist for a shoulder problem with GREAT results and am trying to ge him to go. I'm not Sure he can do the acupuncture with the little electricity they add cuz of his de fib. I'm trying to get info before I spring this on him. His pain is causing major problems in our household. I know...ask the docs..But, I'm trying to be informed before I start asking qestions.
