Ps3 seems different on an HDTV?

I play ps3 mainly on my hdtv it's a 37" 1080i flatscreen and when playing black ops online my controller seems to turn faster than it does on a normal sdtv that's smaller like i am more precise on the sdtv. Although when I play on an sdtv i have a better internet connection and usually pull host but on my hdtv it seems like it turns faster and it throws me off what would cause this?
